Bloggers’ Free Speech Rights Under Attack

Labels:
(aclj.org)...a number of conservative bloggers have been targeted with a dangerous and illegal tactic that's become known as SWAT-ing - (making false 911 calls sending police to the homes of bloggers, claiming a crime has occurred.) The tactic has been used in retaliation for posts that conservative bloggers have written.
SWAT-ing and other intimidation tactics to silence conservative viewpoints are quickly becoming a favorite tool of the radical left.
Senator Saxby Chambliss (R-GA) has recognized this growing problem and is calling on Attorney General Eric Holder to investigate the SWAT-ting cases to see if federal laws have been violated. In a letter to the Attorney General, Sen. Chambliss wrote:
Any potentially criminal action that incites fear, seeks to silence a dissenting opinion, and collaterally wastes the resources of law enforcement should be given close scrutiny at all levels. . . . Regardless of any potential political differences that may exist, threats and intimidation have no place in our national political discourse. (more)

there are going to be 851 new homes for Jews in Judea and Samaria.

Labels:
Well, of course no one expected the world to be pleased that there are going to be homes for Jews in Judea and Samaria.
The government announced authorization of 851 new homes in the settlements despite an anticipated wave of international condemnations because it believes that – as in previous instances – the storm will pass, officials said on Thursday.
The officials spoke even as the US, France and UN already slammed the decision to build the new housing units.
The decision was made on Wednesday shortly after Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu blocked Knesset legislation that would have saved unauthorized settler homes from demolition – paving the way for the evacuation of five buildings built on private Palestinian land in the Ulpana outpost, on the outskirts of Beit El.
“We had no illusions that the international community was going to embrace the move,” one official said. He pointed out, however, that with the exception of Kiryat Arba, all the new housing units were to be built in settlements that Israel considered as large settlement blocs that would remain part of Israel under any agreement.
He also said the units would be built within the confines of existing settlements, and did not represent the construction of new communities.
Read the whole thing if you can stand it.
And someone please explain to me why Jerusalem and 'refugees' are issues for 'final status talks' that cannot be changed from the current reality, while it is presumed that the borders with the 'Palestinian' reichlet have already been decided.
How could anyone assume the borders are settled when it isn't. Build homes.

Moscow Gay Pride Banned For 100 Years.

Moscow Gay Pride Banned For 100 Years.(RN).The Moscow City Court upheld on Thursday a district court’s decision to ban gay parades in Moscow for the next 100 years, Gayrussia.ru reported. The ban came after Moscow gay activists submitted requests on August 23, 2011, to the City Hall to hold gay rallies up until 2112. The LGBT-activists used a loophole in the law that only determines the deadline for submitting rally applications (no later than 30-45 days before the event), but does not state how far in advance events can be submitted. Moscow City Court dismissed the requests, with the district court issuing a 100-year ban on public homosexual rallies, according to Gayrussia.ru. After the city’s main court upheld the district court’s decision, Moscow gay rights activist Nikolai Alexeyev told Gayrussia.ru that he would appeal to the European Court on Human Rights in Strasbourg. Alexeyev, the leader of GayRussia, also said on Thursday in his Twitter that he had paid the first fine for propagating homosexual "propaganda." The activist is the first to be fined 5,000 rubles ($170) under a new local anti-gay law in St. Petersburg after he was detained for picketing outside St. Petersburg's legislature building in April in protest at what he described as the "homophobic" new law. The legislation, which makes it illegal to "disseminate homosexual propaganda" among minors, was signed by St. Petersburg Governor Georgy Poltavchenko in March, making it the fourth Russian city to adopt such a ban. Several politicians and church figures have called for the law, which sets fines of up to to 500,000 rubles ($17,000) for violations, to be passed at the federal level. Homosexuality was only decriminalized in Russia in 1993, and anti-gay sentiments remain strong in society, including Russia's political establishment. In 2007, Former Moscow Mayor Yury Luzhkov described attempts to hold a Gay Parade in the capital as "satanic." No Gay Parade has ever been officially permitted in Russia.Read the full story here.
