Haifa museum is a retirement home for computers

(Times) Where do old computers go to retire? The ones that retire in Israel go to the Personal Computer Museum, which has over 70 models of the “pioneers” of personal computing, from the ’70s onward. Among the machines on display at the museum, located in Haifa, are computers that were popular at the dawn of the computer era alongside machines rarely seen then, let alone today.
The museum, established earlier this year, was the idea of Yariv Anbar, director of Mediatech High-Tech, a division of the computer training and development group Matrix. Anbar had been collecting old computers for 18 years when he got the idea of putting them on display. Unfortunately, nobody wanted the “junk” Anbar was peddling — so he decided to open up his own museum, presenting the models he collected. Many of the computers work and have been set up to perform for the public.
“I got my first computer in 1983,” Anbar said. “It was a Mag 2000, which was a clone of the Apple IIe — of course no one could afford an original in those days. The computer connected to a cassette player and a television. A few years later I got a PC, and of course I was very excited.” The PC, made first by IBM and later by a wide variety of clone makers, took the lion’s share of sales, but many other companies tried to come up with competitors. Man Claims Obama “Raped Me In The Ass”

(Pat Dollard)...Excerpted from The Washington Free Beacon: Numerous protesters at yesterday’s Occupy Wall Street rally in New York City viciously blasted President Obama as a horrible failure, signaling a major break from a liberal base that once celebrated Obama’s lofty rhetoric of hope and change.
“I feel that Obama, especially on the civil liberties perspective, has raped me in the a–,” admitted a shirtless man who donned a purple flower in his hair. “I’m not very happy with his job in the slightest.”
The disillusioned demonstrator, who identified himself as a financial analyst, went on to scold Obama for capitulating to Wall Street bankers and global monetary interests.
“The guy freaks me out a little bit,” the man said. “I’m not going to lie. He’s pretty, and we all think we did something because of his color, and I don’t discount that, but for f—k’s sake, he scares the hell out of me.”The growing dissatisfaction among the president’s most liberal supporters could make November’s election more competitive, as former Obama diehards stay home instead of casting a ballot in his favor.

Where is Wikileaks when you need them?

(Carl) There's a fascinating archive of papers sitting in Tunisia. Its exposure would fascinate the world. It's the archive of Yasser Arafat's papers and it includes plans for terror attacks. Who knows - maybe it includes Yasser's secret Swiss bank account numbers.
There are at least three contenders for the archives: Fatah, Hamas and Suha. Who will get it? I would love to see Wikileaks buy it and publicize it....
Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas has demanded that the archive of late Palestinian leader Yasser Arafat be handed over to his care, the Yedioth Ahronoth daily reported Thursday.
The documents, which are currently in Tunisia, reportedly contains fascinating information on planned terror attacks against Israeli targets, the funding sources of terror organizations and negotiations with Israeli officials from the political and security establishments.
The London-based Al-Sharq Al-Awsat newspaper reported this week that the archive has been a point of contention ever since Arafat’s death in 2004 and the Hamas-Fatah split. "Both Hamas and Fatah have wanted the archive…however, an agreement between the PLO and former Tunisian president Zine El Abidine Ben Ali did not allow for the archives to be handed over,” the report stated.
...
It was further reported that Arafat's widow, Suha, has also been trying to obtain the documents.
Abbas, Yedioth Ahronoth said, has filed an official request with the Tunisian government to have the documents transferred over to him. Sources told Al-Sharq Al-Awsat that the Palestinians will seek at least an electronic version of the archive.
"These documents are part of out national and operational history," a Palestinian news outlet said. "If there are secrets, it is time they are revealed, even if it causes embarrassment to leaders and heads of intelligence agencies in the Arab community."
Arafat refused to transfer the documents from Tunis for fear that Israel would get its hands on them.
Calling Mr. Assange! Calling Mr. Assange!
What the rest of us are wondering... what type of boys did Arafat prefer? Was he a top or bottom? Stuff like that... though I doubt he wrote about that... even for himself.

Report: US Muslim Population Nearly Triples in Decade

A 2010 survey shows the Muslim population in the US has risen from 1 million to 2.6 million in 10 years. By Gabe Kahn

A census of American religions released Tuesday showed the Muslim community in the United States has grown in the past decade.
According to a study carried out by the Association of Statisticians of American Religious Bodies, the number of Muslims in America rose to 2.6 million in 2010 from 1 million in 2000, fueled by immigration and conversions.
Muslims now outnumber Jews in many parts of the American South and Midwest, but Christians remain the largest group in every state.

The number of Mormons with the Utah-based Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, grew by 45 percent to 6.1 million in 2010.
Among the other major US faiths, the Southern Baptist Convention held steady at 19.9 million over the decade, the United Methodist Church lost 4 percent down to 9.9 million adherents, the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America lost 18 percent to 4.2 million, and the Episcopal Church lost 15 percent of its adherents to 1.95 million.
Among major religions, the census found the number of Catholics, the largest single faith, declined 5 percent to 58.9 million during the decade. In the New England region, Catholic funerals outnumber baptisms.
However, the overall number of evangelical Protestant congregations continued to grow, albeit slowly, to 50 million adherents. Most of the growth was in urban areas and the vast majority of expanding congregations have fewer than 100 members.
Elsewhere, Buddhists made strong gains in the Rocky Mountain States, where the number of temples and congregations increased markedly. The total number of Buddhist adherents in the United States stands at nearly 1 million. There was no estimate in 2000.
According to the study, 55 percent of Americans attend religious services with enough regularity to be counted. By comparison, most surveys estimate roughly 85 percent of Americans profess religious faith, though they may not attend services.
\
Some 158 million Americans were classified as “unclaimed” by any religion in the survey.
The survey, which asked 236 religions to count their own adherents, also included family members of adherents in the numbers in most cases.
Jews did not respond to the survey in large numbers, but Jewish organizations in the US have conducted numerous up-to-date studies. The Jewish Population of the United States 2010 study by Prof. Ira Sheskin of Miami University, placed the American Jewish population at 6,543,820.
That number is up from an estimated 6,155,000 in 2000.

I'd like to thank the Olympic Committee for reminding world Jewery why there must be a Jewish State: London won't hold minute of silence for 1972 victims

The US team in 1936, agreed to the removal of sprinters Marty Glickman and Sam Stoller, Jews from the team in order to appease the Nazi organizers of the Berlin Olympics... now...

International Olympic Committee tells 'Post' that minute of silence will not be observed for 11 Israeli athletes slain at Munich games. (jpost)The International Olympic Committee will not hold a minute of silence at the upcoming London games for the 11 Israeli athletes who were murdered at the 1972 Munich Olympics, an IOC official told The Jerusalem Post this week.  In a video recently posted on YouTube, Ankie Spitzer, the widow of Andrei Spitzer, an Israeli fencing coach killed in Munich, issued a heartfelt appeal to the IOC.
Together with the Jewish Community Center of Rockland, she also launched an online petition that has garnered over 20,000 signatures.
“I am asking for one minute of silence for the memory of the 11 Israeli athletes, coaches and referees murdered at the 1972 Summer Olympics in Munich,” Spitzer writes in the petition, adding, “Just one minute at the 2012 London Summer Olympics and at every Olympic Game, to promote peace.”
The IOC told the Post they would not honor Spitzer’s request.
“The IOC has paid tribute to the memory of the athletes who tragically died in Munich in 1972 on several occasions and will continue to do so,” Emmanuelle Moreau, IOC head of media relations, told the Post. “However, we do not foresee any commemoration during the opening ceremony of the London Games.”
Moreau insisted that “The memory of the victims is not fading away. One thing is certain, we will never forget.”
She added that, “During the period of the games, the Israeli National Olympic Committee traditionally hosts a reception in memory of the victims and the IOC is always strongly represented. London will be no exception.”
On September 5, 1972, Palestinian terrorists disguised as athletes attacked the dormitory housing the Israeli delegation to the Munich games and took hostages, resulting in the deaths of 11 Israelis and 1 German policeman.
The incident came to be known as the “Munich massacre.”
For the past four decades, Spitzer and others have repeatedly sought to persuade the IOC to incorporate a minute of silence during the opening ceremonies of the games.
“I have no political or religious agenda. Just the hope that my husband and the other men who went to the Olympics in peace, friendship and sportsmanship are given what they deserve,” Spitzer wrote in the petition to the IOC.
“Forty years is long enough to wait.”

Russia Does Not Rule Out Preemptive Missile Defense Strike in Europe.

Labels: » »
Why are we defending Europe when it is essentially on it's way to becoming a Muslim state? We should applaud Russia's strength and realize that we are really fighting a common Muslim enemy. Russia is the one place that America should really use diplomacy... but our leaders in America alienated the bear when it stupidly got involved in the Balkens at the request of Jihadists. America should write a letter apologizing for our involvement where we had no business except we were stooges in a German Muslim Axis. After we apologize we should then explain that Georgia's rights are important to us and the free world... and from there America and Russia should be future allies. Obama promised us his hand reaching out to the world. Obama reached out to Muslims, but he alienated everyone else.
Russia Does Not Rule Out Preemptive Missile Defense Strike in Europe
.(Other/RN).Russia does not exclude preemptive use of weapons against [NATO] missile defense systems in Europe but only as a last resort, the Russian General Staff said on Thursday at a missile defense conference in Moscow. “The placement of new strike weapons in the south and northwest of Russia against [NATO] missile defense components, including the deployment of Iskander missile systems in Kaliningrad region is one possible way of incapacitating the European missile defense infrastructure,” Chief of the General Staff Nikolai Makarov said. Taking into account the “destabilizing nature of the missile defense system... the decision on the pre-emptive use of available weapons will be made during an aggravation of the situation,” he said. The projected European missile defense system could by 2020 have the ability to intercept Russian intercontinental ballistic missiles, Secretary of Russia’s Security Council Nikolai Patrushev said on Thursday. The United States and NATO agreed to develop the system at a summit in Lisbon in 2010, but talks between Russia and the alliance have floundered over NATO’s refusal to grant Russia legal guarantees that the system would not be aimed against Russia’s strategic nuclear deterrent. “By 2018-2020 - that is the third and fourth phases of the deployment of the Euro-missile defense in Europe – the continent should have enough anti-missile defense to be able to intercept part of Russia’s intercontinental ballistic missiles, and submarine launched ballistic missiles,” Patrushev said at an international conference on Euro-missile defense in Moscow. “The geographical regions and technical characteristics of these missile defense systems create the foundations for additional dangers, especially considering the current and future levels of high-precision armament of the United States,” he said. “Our experts say other targets, which could require serious missile defense against it, do not really exist,” he said. Patrushev said the creation of the Euro-missile defense, which is taking place without Russia’s agreement and will lead to a degradation of Russia’s nuclear deterrent, could lead to a disbalance in strategic stability at the regional and global levels. “The refusal to discuss the conditions for providing legal binding guarantees for the deployment system to be not aimed at Russia strengthens our convictions that the real goal of this missile defense system could differ from what is stated,” he said. Russia’s military and political leadership has already warned its western partners several times that if talks fail, Russia may take a series of measures including deployment of Iskander short-range nuclear-capable tactical ballistic missiles in the Kaliningrad exclave. NATO denies its missile defense proposals are aimed at Russia. "In fact, we have no desire at all to disturb global strategic stability," NATO's Deputy General Secretary Alexander Vershbow told the conference. "Quite the contrary: NATO missile defense will be capable of intercepting only a small number of relatively unsophisticated ballistic missiles. It does not have the capability to neutralize Russian deterrence."Read the full story here.
