True, making the pill available over the counter could reduce the amount of outrage and invective available for entertaining radio audiences, spurring political fundraising and otherwise amusing the American public. But the medical risks are quite low.
Partly because birth-control pills are available only by prescription, people tend to think they’re more dangerous and less well understood than they actually are. In fact, “more is known about the safety of oral contraceptives than has been known about any other drug in the history of medicine,” declared an editorial in the American Journal of Public Health back in 1993. That editorial accompanied an article arguing for over-the-counter sales.
Unlike most medications, the article noted, birth-control pills require no medical diagnosis: “A woman herself determines her need for oral contraception; she assesses her own risk of pregnancy … and the costs and benefits of both pregnancy and alternative contraceptions.” Nearly two decades later, birth- control pills look even safer than they did then, and recent research indicates that women are both able and eager to manage their own purchase decisions.

How does this solution stand up to medical marijuana then? why would you need a prescription for this? Obviously plenty is known about Marijuana and it's positive uses. This thinking would essentially give people the power to decide their own consumption of chemicals.

'Palestinians' attack border crossing that delivers humanitarian aid

'Palestinian' terrorists attacked trucks bringing humanitarian aid through the Kerem Shalom crossing point into Gaza on Monday. The trucks were on the 'Palestinian' side of the border.

This morning, Palestinian terrorists fired three mortars on the Palestinian side of the Kerem Shalom crossing. The mortars struck a truck and a van on their way to deliver goods to the people of Gaza. Following the shooting, activity at the crossing was suspended for just a few minutes. After evaluating the situation, it was decided to continue operations at the crossing, where goods continue to be transferred from Israel into the Gaza Strip.
Yesterday, over 180 trucks of goods were transferred from Israel to Gaza. The IDF will continue to act in order to prevent terrorist attacks from the Gaza Strip. At the same time, the Israel Defense Forces will continue to distinguish between the terrorist organizations and the civilian population.

It remains to be seen however who these Palestinians are affiliated with. I'm sure the Arabs will say the Jews are behind the whole thing and Mossad set it all up. I'm making that last part up, but I'm just saying how they might think to cover this story up if it turns out Hamas or Fatah are directly responsible.

Egypt official: Israel, Gaza terror groups agree truce

(JPost) Israel and terrorist factions in the Gaza Strip have agreed to an Egyptian-mediated truce to end four days of cross-border violence, a senior Egyptian security official told Reuters on Tuesday.
The official said both sides "agreed to end the current operations" including an unusual undertaking by Israel to "stop assassinations" in a deal expected to take effect at 1 a.m. local time.
There was no immediate comment by Israel or the Palestinian factions regarding the deal.

 For whatever reason, the information about the Palestinian rock throwing did not make into the Tribune cutline, although it is critical to understanding the day's circumstances. Indeed, the AFP, like the AP, noted that the Palestinians were throwing stones:

(Hill) Specter laments that Obama and Vice President Biden did not do more to help him in the final days of his primary race against former Rep. Joe Sestak (D-Pa.), who beat him 54 percent to 46 percent in the 2010 Pennsylvania Senate Democratic primary.
Specter writes that Obama turned down a request to campaign with him in the final days of the primary, because the president’s advisers feared he would look weak if he intervened and Specter lost.
“I realized that the president and his advisers were un-shy about supporting my candidacy after being stung by Obama’s failed rescue attempts for New Jersey governor Jon Corzine and Massachusetts attorney general Martha Coakley. They were reluctant to become victims of a trifecta,” he writes.
The snub was made all the more painful by Obama flying over Philadelphia en route to New York City a few days before the election and then on primary day jetting over Pittsburgh to visit a factory in Youngstown, Ohio, 22 miles from the Pennsylvania border, to promote the 2009 economic stimulus law. The painful irony for Specter is that his vote for the stimulus legislation, which was instrumental to its passage, hastened his departure from the Republican Party.
Specter was also disappointed that Biden, who was only a few blocks away at Penn University, did not attend a pre-primary day rally at the Phillies’s Citizens Bank Park — a missed opportunity Specter attributes to a failed staff-to-staff request.
Just over a year before, Obama and Biden welcomed Specter to the Democratic Party with a press conference at the White House and promised him his full support.

Especially offensive, they wrote, has been the fact that his go-to term for feminists, “femi-nazis,” is no longer enough to “raise eyebrows anymore.”

Did Gloria Steinem forget that she called housewives “dependent creatures who are still children” and “parasites”? That is the Left’s standard operating procedure. That is what they do, always, and especially with regard to women. This has been proven over and over again and only the willfully ignorant can’t see it. Gloria Steinem also said that one cannot be a feminist and be conservative and pro-life. A group called Liberal Ladies Who Lunch has launched a campaign to withhold sex. The founder of the group said the following:

“American men enjoy the benefits of women making their own choices about when to get pregnant. Men get the advantage of free, easy access sex with young women of child-bearing age. It wasn’t like that sixty years ago. If women can’t get reliable birth control, they will just have to keep their legs crossed to prevent pregnancy–even married women. I don’t think anyone wants that.”

Rush can afford the lawyers, but what about the rest of the men out there that try to oppose feminism and find themselves extradited to Washington State for what they write online? It happened to me.

The credit facility from Crystal Financial, a Boston-based firm that boasts Soros’ hedge fund as its lead investor, will immediately replace and expand a $75 million revolving credit line from Bank of America that matures in July, sources said.
