GM to halt Volt production for five weeks

WASHINGTON (MarketWatch) -- General Motors  GM will halt production of the Chevy Volt electric car for five weeks, The Wall Street Journal reported, citing a spokesman. Around 1,300 workers at GM's Hamtramck, Mich. factory where the Volt is built will be out of work between March 19 and April 23, the report said, citing the spokesman. GM sold about 7,700 Volts last year, below its target of 10,000
Meanwhile... the non Union Prius is out and the German Mercedes Benz Electric SmartCar is coming out soon.

(EOZ)( A Muslim scholar explains why Jerusalem is not in the Koran) It is strange, mysterious, and enigmatic, … that the name of the city ‘Jerusalem’ (Arabic ‘Quds’ or ‘Bait al-Maqdis’) does not appear in the Qur’an! Yet so many of the Prophets mentioned in the Qur’an had links with that Holy City, and in it is located that only other House of Allah, apart from those built in Makkah and Madina, ever built by a Prophet of Allah, Most High. Not only is that House of Allah (Masjid al-Aqsa) mentioned in the Qur’an but so, also, is the miraculous night-time journey in which Prophet Muhammad (sallalahu ‘alaihi wa sallam) was taken from Makkah to Jerusalem and to that House of Allah. Perhaps the reason for this mysterious treatment of the subject is located in the Islamic view that Jerusalem is destined to play a central crucial role in the Last Age. Hence there was, perhaps, a divine need to cloud the name of the city, as well as its destiny, with a sacred cloud that would not be lifted until the appropriate time had come, and Jerusalem was poised and ready to play its role in the End of History.

There you go! The Quran doesn't mention Jerusalem because it is too darn holy!

Commentators explain that "thy qiblah" (direction of prayer for Muslims) clearly refers the Ka'bah of Mecca, while "their qiblah" (direction of prayer for Jews) refers to the Temple Mount in Jerusalem.

This Koranic passage appears to show that the holiness of Jerusalem a Jewish concept, and should not be confused with an Islamic concept.

Islam understands that Jerusalem is the central location of Israel even if it doesn't name it, and the Temple Mount is the epicenter of Jerusalem. This is why the Muslm Waqf and Abu Mazen AKA Abbas is destroying it. They do not want it... they want to destroy another faith. Obviously the Quran still believes in a Jewish Holy City... it just doesn't clarify it's place or name. Mohammad never conquers Jerusalem... but he flies there on a flying unicorn before his death (even though no Christian has a record of this). The whole thing is silly. They claim ownership of land that isn't clarified.. essentially claiming anywhere they want to be Muslim... which I guess is the idea. sigh...when it gets this complicated it is because it is simple.

Disney shuts down “Fat Camp” exhibit amid complaints,....could Disneyland become 'Obamaland'?

Disney closed down a three-week-old anti-obesity attraction at its Florida theme park after angry parents, doctors and obesity experts said it was "horrifying" and insensitive."The exhibit dumbed down childhood obesity to a choice," says Dr. Yoni Freedhoff, a family doctor and founder of Ottawa's Bariatric Medical Institute. "As if kids, or adults, go to bed at night thinking hot damn, I'm going to be lazy and gluttonous rather than active and healthy."

Freedhoff says Disney was right to close Habit Heroes for retooling and suggested that the company—whose theme parks sell hot dogs, ice cream and other calorie-laden treats for pint-sized visitors—could do a lot more to help kids live healthier lives.

He proposed the company "start by taking a corporate stand and loudly and proudly put an end to their practice of licensing their beloved cartoon characters to sell nutritionally bankrupt food to children."The exhibit, called "Habit Heroes" and housed at Epcot Center, was co-sponsored by Blue Cross Blue Shield. Inside the 4,700-square-foot space, kids worked with protagonists Will Power and Callie Stenics to fight bad habits, personified as grotesquely obese villains with names like The Glutton, Lead Bottom and The Snacker.

In one room, kids wielded guns that shot broccoli and apples, aiming to knock out cream puffs and hot dogs. In another, they pressure Lead Bottom into dancing to help him lose weight, according to theOrlando Sentinel.A second problem with Habit Heroes is that the exhibit could make it seem like children are solely to blame for their weight, says Dr. Frank Pasztor, director of the Children's Fitness Centres of Canada. "I'm completely against that," he says, explaining that it's up to parents to set the guidelines for their kids and show them how to lead a healthy life.

Sbarro terrorist gets TV show

(.ynet) Ahlam Tamimi, the Hamas terrorist who drove a suicide bomber to the Sbarro restaurant in Jerusalem where 15 people were consequently killed, has gotten her own television show, Ynet has learned.
 
Tamimi, who was sentenced to 16 life terms in Israeli prison, was freed in October as part of the swap that bought IDF soldier Gilad Shalit's freedom. She was deported to Jordan, where she appears to have launched a television career.
The Hamas-affiliated Al-Quds satellite channel has slotted Tamimi to present a weekly show called "Nassim al-Ahrar," which deals with Palestinian convicts imprisoned in Israel, and those who have been freed. The channel has been aggressively promoting the show.
In an interview published shortly after her release, Tamimi said she does not regret her involvement in the attack, which took place in 2001.
 
'Abductions will free prisoners'
During the show's early episodes, Tamimi focused on the first phase of the Shalit deal, which freed 450 Palestinian prisoners. Tamimi interviews her subjects in her studio, over the phone and through satellite broadcasts.

The show's first episode featured several prisoners freed in the deal, who expressed hope that the show would raise awareness across the Arab and Muslim wold for the plight of the Palestinian inmates.
In another episode, Tamimi interviewed Salah Arouri, a Hamas official who was involved in the negotiations over the Shalit deal. Arouri showed what he said was the original contract for the swap. He also claimed that Israel doesn't understand any language other than resistance.
"The only way to free our prisoners from jail is through resistance, abductions and prisoner swaps," he said, calling on the Palestinian factions to kidnap Israeli soldiers and officers.
