Iran has detected Duqu computer virus

TEHRAN (Reuters) - Iran said on Sunday it had detected the Duqu computer virus that experts say is based on Stuxnet, the so-called "cyber-weapon" discovered last year and believed to be aimed at sabotaging the Islamic Republic's nuclear sites.

The head of Iran's civil defense organization told the official IRNA news agency that computers at all main sites at risk were being checked and that Iran had developed software to combat the virus.

"We are in the initial phase of fighting the Duqu virus," Gholamreza Jalali, was quoted as saying. "The final report which says which organizations the virus has spread to and what its impacts are has not been completed yet.

"All the organizations and centers that could be susceptible to being contaminated are being controlled," he said.

News of Duqu surfaced in October when security software maker Symantec Corp said it had found a mysterious virus that contained code similar to Stuxnet.

While Stuxnet was aimed at crippling industrial control systems and may have destroyed some of the centrifuges Iran uses to enrich uranium, experts say Duqu appeared designed to gather data to make it easier to launch future cyber attacks.

Symantec said: "Duqu is essentially the precursor to a future Stuxnet-like attack." Instead of being designed to sabotage an industrial control system, the new virus is designed to gain remote access capabilities, it said in a report issued last month.

Iran said in April it had been targeted by a second computer virus which it identified as "Stars." It was not immediately clear if Stars and Duqu were related but Jalali described Duqu as the third virus to hit Iran.

Tehran said Stuxnet had not inflicted serious damage before it was detected and blamed the United States and Israel for the virus which appeared to be aimed at crippling the nuclear program they say is aimed at making atomic weapons, a charge Iran denies.

The International Atomic Energy Agency issued a report last week that contained what it called credible evidence pointing to military dimensions to Iran's atomic activities, fueling demands in Washington and Europe for further sanctions.

Iran dismissed the report as politicized and full of "lousy" and unreliable intelligence work. The speaker of Iran's parliament said on Sunday the assembly would "review" relations with the U.N. nuclear watchdog.

The man behind such famed comic series as “Batman: The Dark Knight Returns,” “Sin City” and “300,” in fact, is entirely against the Occupy Wall Street movement.
“‘Occupy’ is nothing but a pack of louts, thieves, and rapists, an unruly mob, fed by Woodstock-era nostalgia and putrid false righteousness,” Miller wrote in a blog entry last week. “These clowns can do nothing but harm America.”
Though, for the most part, the participants in the now-global Occupy moment have protested the imbalances of the economy, corporate fiscal abuses and government officials’ close ties to Wall Street, Miller mentions the War on Terror in his slamming of the nascent movement.
“Wake up, pond scum. America is at war against a ruthless enemy,” he later continues. “Maybe, between bouts of self-pity and all the other tasty tidbits of narcissism you’ve been served up in your sheltered, comfy little worlds, you’ve heard terms like al-Qaeda and Islamicism.”
Miller then implores protestors to join the military, or otherwise, to go “back to your mommas’ basements and play with your Lords Of Warcraft.”
In his work, Miller’s protagonists often face off against corrupt government officials. Batman, in both “The Dark Knight Returns” and “The Dark Knight Strikes Again” is faced with heavy governmental opposition, with the latter featuring an especially oppressive and corrupt government.

Mamilla Muslim cemetery: SMEAR TACTICS AGAINST THE SIMON WIESENTHAL CENTER JERUSALEM

CAIR-Facebook  (Bare Naked Islam) The Greater Los Angeles Area office of the Terrorist Front Group Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR-LA) and the Los Angeles chapter of George Soros funded Jewish Voice for Peace   today urged Americans to demand that the Los Angeles-based Simon Wiesenthal Center  stop desecration of Muslim graves by halting construction of its controversial “Museum of Tolerance” over the historic Mamilla cemetery in Jerusalem.

In the latest string of incidents, 15 graves were found vandalized with graffiti “death to the Arabs” and “price tag” at the gravesite. Earlier, 84 architects from around the world urged SWC to stop building over the Muslim cemetery. In a letter, the archeologists stated that the project involved “surreptitious and unscientific removal of hundreds of human burials,” in violation of international and Israeli laws.


Middle East Online The website of the New York-based Centre for Constitutional Rights (CCR) said the 84 signatories, including Israeli and Palestinian academics, had signed a letter demanding that construction of the Museum of Tolerance should be stopped “immediately.”

“The latest and most invasive encroachment on the cemetery to build the ‘Museum of Tolerance’ involved deep excavations that resulted in the disinterment of hundreds of human bones and other important antiquities in an unscientific and disrespectful manner,” said the letter, which was sent on October 20.

“The planning of the Museum of Tolerance of Jerusalem has passed all planning and legal challenges, up to and including the Supreme Court of the State of Israel,” Barkat spokesman Stephan Miller said in a written response to query.
The project has sparked controversy because it is being built on land belonging to the Ma’man Allah cemetery, commonly called Mamilla, which dates from the 12th century and is the resting place of several Sufi saints. Descendants of those interred in the west Jerusalem cemetery say it also houses the remains of soldiers and officials of legendary Muslim ruler Saladin.
“Mamilla Cemetery should be preserved as a demonstration of respect for Jerusalem’s shared heritage.”

Woman Raped at Occupy Philadelphia

(Eye/ABC) A woman protester at the Occupy Philadelphia encampment at City Hall was raped in a tent, allegedly by a man who had traveled from out of state to join the protest, police said.

The suspect was arrested almost immediately after the alleged attack, and the woman is with the police Special Victims Unit.
The alleged rapist is reported to have been arrested multiple times in connection with a string of armed robberies in Kalamazoo, Mich., officials said.

...Israel Television has just reported that Hassan Moghadam, who was responsible for Iran's missile program, was killed in Saturday's blast outside Tehran. DEBKA reported this late on Saturday night. Here's their story.

Brig. Hassan Moghadam, head of missile development and sections of its nuclear program, was killed in one of the two consecutive explosions that hit two IRGC bases 46 kilometers west of Tehran Saturday, Nov. 12. The official fatality figure is 32. Fourteen hours after explosions blasts could still be heard and fires raged. debkafile's exclusive sources report the bases are located in Malard, a town in the Shahryar district. The Moadarres facility was the first to be hit, while the second and bigger blast occurred at Amir-al-Mo'menin.
Their force was such that the Iranian Red Crescent rushed 45 ambulances to the two facilities plus 23 buses converted to first-aid vehicles and a helicopter to evacuate the critically injured.
However, only six rescue workers were given access to the Moadarres base and none were permitted to enter Amir-al-Mo'menin because of the facility's sensitivity.
Fourteen hours after the explosions, the blasts continued and fires raged. Surrounding streets were closed and reporters kept away from the scene.
Our sources report increasing evidence that the first explosion was caused by a failed effort to mount a nuclear warhead on a Shahab-3 intermediate-range missile.Read the whole thing.

Persian Incursion assumes that an Israeli attack is only possible if one of Iran's neighbors -- Saudi Arabia, Turkey, or a U.S.-influenced Iraq -- either publicly or tacitly allows Israeli entry into its airspace for the strike on Iran. (The rules state that though Israel could chance an initial airstrike without an agreement, it would need permission for follow-up attacks.) With that in mind, the game comes with various starting scenarios, such as a super-radical Iran that scares its neighbors into allowing Israeli access, or Turkish support for an Israeli strike (note that the game came out in 2010, before the current Israeli-Turkish spat). Persian Incursion gives each player a chance before the game to purchase extra goodies. Iran's Colonel Noob buys GPS jammers to frustrate Israeli guided weapons, plus a couple of Chinese HQ-9 surface-to-air missile (SAM) batteries. And knowing that missiles will soon be headed Israel's way, I choose a third Arrow 2 anti-missile battalion, plus extra tanker aircraft for longer bombing sorties. The political tracks begin with Saudi Arabia somewhat supportive of my Israeli attack and with the United States, Turkey, and the United Nations offering lukewarm endorsement. On the other side, Russia is somewhat supportive of Iran, while China is a full-on ally. This situation is tenuous and fraught with danger for both players. If the Saudi political track shifts more toward Israel, Saudi aircraft could join in the fun. ("Oops, sorry Tehran! We were trying to attack the Jews' aircraft, but we accidentally bombed your reactor. Our king is most distraught.") On the other hand, China's support for Iran could mean an emergency airlift of Chinese.

Islamists Take Over Egypt: Library of Alexandria to Be Burned Again

The Royal Library of Alexandria in Egypt, the largest and most significant library of the ancient world, is now being targeted by radical Muslims who seek to replace it with a mosque. Radical Islamic groups claim that the library's art programs, which include music and ballet dancing, spread "depravity" in Egyptian society. Director Ismail Serageldin has been under fire for his alleged affiliation with the former regime of President Hosni Mubarak and crackdown on freedom of speech in the library.
