Libya’s Qaddafi Gave Condi Rice $212,000 In Gifts, Including A Diamond Ring. That would explain Condoleezza Rice's poor treatment of Israel. The whole time I thought it was because she was Bibi's neighbor and family friend in Colorado.Women! Looks like old Condi returned the favor! ...In Gaddafi’s compound, the rebels found albums of the former Sec of State, Condoleezza Rice.
“I support my darling black African woman,I admire and am very proud of the way she leans back and gives orders to the Arab leaders … Leezza, Leezza, Leezza. … I love her very much. I admire her and I’m proud of her because she’s a black woman of African origin.

South Korea alliance to Israel

Israel has become the largest arms supplier to South Korea.
During 2010-2011, ministry of Defense of the Republic of Korea [South Korea] awarded a contract worth US$ 280 million to Israel Aerospace Industries Ltd, for developing and supplying the EL/M 2032 Multimode Fire Control Radar system for the ROK's FA/TA-50 training jet. The radar was chosen by the customer for its advanced system compared to other competitors. The second contract is for advance air defense system to ROK. The radar enhances a fighter jet's air-to-air, air-to-ground, and air-to-sea capabilities, enabling long-range target detection and high-resolution mapping, among other features. The TA/FA-50 aircraft is being developed in the ROK by Korean Aerospace Industries [KAI], and will become operational with the radar system, which is co-produced with the Korean company LIG Nex1. Now South Korea is willing to expand the defense cooperation with Israel and Kwon Oh-bong, the vice commissioner of the Defense Acquisition Program Administration [DAPA], South Korea hinted that his country is planning to turn Israel into its main arms supplier, following recent border incidents with its northern communist neighbour. Kwon Oh-bong, who recently visited Israel, met senior Defense Ministry officials. In his visit to Rafael Advanced Defense Systems, the South Korean official expressed an interest in the Irom Dome rocket interception system, which was activated successfully in southern Israel recently. "The security situation and threats faced by Israel and South Korea are very similar," says Kwon. "We are constantly boosting our readiness against North Korea, and we're exposed to the types of incidents and local provocations Israel is familiar with too. "We too are under a major threat of artillery, missiles and rockets, and we were briefed on Rafael's air defense system. It's a very interesting weapons system and we'll consider it."
How will South Korea vote on the question of the unilateral declaration of 'Palestinian' statehood next month and will South Korea participate in the Durban III conference?

More than 350 people are now living in Tel Aviv's tented city after Daphni Leef invited fellow Israelis to join her protest on FacebookA Founder of a separate tent city protests group says media fascination with Daphni Leef, 26, and her friends has been detrimental to the cause. Nonetheless, 44-year-old Attorney Yaniv Moyal of Tel Aviv said that the social issues movement has suffered because of the emphasis placed upon 26-year-old Daphni Leef and her friends, after Leef started the protest with a call she put out on Facebook group she created on July 14th. He also said that he didn't trust the decision-making process or motivations of Stav Shafir and Regev Kuntas two members of Leef's inner circle, saying "I have no idea what their interests are but I think they're just to bring down the government and if we do that, we'll have elections again and woe unto us."

Steve Jobs, former CEO of Apple, says "I meant to type "I reign as CEO of Apple" but autcorrect is a bitch

As a preemtive move Apple Corporation is filling Chapter 10 bankruptcy at Delaware district court while shorting its stock.
This message was found from Igor Berger on August 10. Delaware district court while shorting its stock. As the biggest market cap company in the world it is realizing that its snake oil salesmanship of iPhone will not last forever. Be warned and get out of the stock!
then five days later...
(Reuters) - Silicon Valley legend Steve Jobs relinquished the reins at Apple Inc to right-hand man Tim Cook on Wednesday, after 14 years in command at a company he brought back from the brink and turned into the world's largest technology corporation. Jobs, who fought and survived a rare form of pancreatic cancer and revolutionized the technology arena with the iPhone in 2007, is deemed the heart and soul of a company that started in a garage and is today neck-and-neck with Exxon Mobil in the race to become the largest U.S. corporation. Analysts do not expect Jobs' resignation -- which was more a question of when than if -- to derail Apple's fabled product-launch roadmap, including possibly a new iPhone in September a third iteration of the iPad tablet in 2012. But the company's shares still dived as much as 7 percent in after-hours trade after the industry icon, who has been on medical leave for an undisclosed condition since January 17, announced he will be replaced by COO and heir apparent Cook.

Ali Ferzat

Syrian cartoonist Ali Ferzat works in his atelier in Damascus, Syria on Sunday, Aug. 14, 2011. (Muzaffar Salman - AP) When Ferzat was found by passersby on the capital’s airport road, his hands were the most badly injured, in a seeming attempt to silence his pen:

While support came in for Ferzat on Twitter, his own Facebook page, and a Facebook supporter page, the artist’s own Web site was suspended. It was unclear whether his page had been shut down or was overloaded by the number of people trying to find it.
pic.twitter.com/NhP8EQJIn the early hours of Thursday, masked men seized Ferzat from the street and forced him in to a van. A relative has said that Ferzat's attackers targeted his hands, breaking them both, and told him it was "just a warning" before leaving him by the roadside with a bag over his head. Cheney urged Bush to bomb Syria

Labels: » » » » » »
Former US Vice President Dick Cheney writes that he urged former President George W. Bush to bomb Syria's nuclear reactor in 2007
“I again made the case for U.S. military action against the reactor,” Mr. Cheney wrote about a meeting on the issue. “But I was a lone voice. After I finished, the president asked, ‘Does anyone here agree with the vice president?’ Not a single hand went up around the room.”

Two of Cheney's closest advisers were David and Meyrav Wormser. David resigned to protest the Annapolis process (if it can be called that) in November 2007.
For two decades, we have called on Israel to take risks for peace and make painful concessions so that it will be accepted more broadly and solidly by the international community. And yet, after two decades, the voices questioning Israel’s very right to exist even in Europe are louder than ever. Polls there show that even the populations of even our closest allies revile Israel and Israelis more than even Iran or North Korea.

The prospects that this time will be different and that we will see real progress follow Annapolis, and that all these trends will be reversed, are bleak for several reasons. First, the concept behind Annapolis was divorced from the President’s forward strategy of freedom. Second, the Fatah leadership is so irredeemably weak that it cannot deliver. Third, we are ignoring the danger of the situation in Gaza. Fourth, the Annapolis framework “regionalized” the Palestinian issue when the historical record of regionalization of conflicts is tragic and violent. Finally, the Palestinian issue is not our highest national priority in the current strategic environment. Yet, it disproportionately occupies our attention at the cost of displaying commitment to more important causes, such as Iraq, Pakistan, Iran, and North Korea. In short, Annapolis failed to emerge from, and thus advance, our national interests.
David and Meyrav Wormser (they're married to each other) were the people who told the World that the Bush administration had given Israel a green light to strike Syria during the Second Lebanon War in 2006. If Israeli Prime Minister Ehud K. Olmert had the guts to attack Syria in 2006, there may not have been a need to take out its nuclear reactor in 2007.
Did the administration expect Israel to attack Syria?

"They hoped Israel would do it. You cannot come to another country and order it to launch a war, but there was hope, and more than hope, that Israel would do the right thing. It would have served both the American and Israeli interests.

"The neocons are responsible for the fact that Israel got a lot of time and space… They believed that Israel should be allowed to win. A great part of it was the thought that Israel should fight against the real enemy, the one backing Hizbullah. It was obvious that it is impossible to fight directly against Iran, but the thought was that its strategic and important ally should be hit."
As Defense Secretary during the first Gulf War, Cheney presented David Ivry, the commander of Israel's Air Force when the IAF took out Iraq's nuclear reactor, with a satellite image of the former Osirak reactor site, and a note of thanks for making America's job easier in the first Gulf War.

we asked them if they’d be interested in redistributing the GPA points that they earned to students who may be having trouble

This second video has Oliver going around the school asking whether students want to sign his petition to pay their share of the national debt, $47,000. This one doesn't go too well either, and their ideas of paying that debt off is just horrendous:
via lyallrussell.blogspot.com

He doesn't have a lot of luck, it seems that they are alright with the wealthy paying a higher percent in taxes but when it come to student who work hard for the high GPA then it is no fair to take grades that they worked hard for and give them to students that are not doing quite so well. Wait... That's what the federal government (including ours in NZ) are doing to higher earners. The Rich work hard for their money and a lot of the time they have started from nothing and worked their way up the ladder of wage brackets. They work hard and deserve their wages and so do University students who work hard for their high grades, neither of the should be redistributed because they have put in a lot of hard work, both on scene and behind the scenes, to earn the money or the grade they are achieving.

One of the girls that were in this video commented that she doesn't have any debt, that $47,000 isn't her debt because she didn't contribute to it. Well sorry to tell you, that debt is your debt. Just the the baby that has just come out of their mothers womb, yep it's (don't know whether it's a boy or a girl, but that doesn't matter) $47,000 out of pocket. Yes, they need to make cuts in every department to combat this debt, that includes the military (the military will use all of the money that you give it but a lot of it would just be wasted or they don't have to spend money on specific things). And times will be hard for some, but if we don't face it now it is just going to get worse and worse down the line. So you can't just blame that one on the rich to solve the problem by taking more of their money. You already know that the top 10% wage bracket pays 50% of taxes and the top 50% of wage earners pay about 97% of the taxes, the middle class pays 3% while the poor gets a tax rebate and pays no taxes. Good job with these video Oliver, and I look forward to seeing any other clips you put together.
