Iran's Flying Saucer

They illustrate the article with this picture.
Looks cool!!!
...Also, surprisingly fake!
I'm bummed.
I was hoping that Iran's leaders
were getting some
alien anal probes
in exchange for the nifty flying
saucer technology.
After all, Iran has said publicly
that it shot down several
UFOs
in 2009. Really.
It turns out that the actual device looks like this

Protest Tourism

Al-Karama Passenger accepts food and water given to him by an IDF Navy soldier
An Al-Karama passenger accepts food and water from an Israel Navy soldier.
...at least they took the water!
...I'm going to become a Palestinian activist just so I can try this... what a great vacation.
The below photos show the condition of Al-Karama ship passengers following the boarding of Israeli naval soldiers...
It's no secret that a portion of Israel's tourist trade comes from "Protest Tourism." From philosophy students and poetry PhD's who want a chance to visit the Holy Land, throw some rocks at a soldier and have their pictures taken with AK-47 wielding terrorists. And it's time that the Israeli tourist industry took their business seriously. So says the Sultan.

(Israel Defense Forces via IDF Spokesperson)
The Al-Karama, a ship belonging to the Free Gaza Movement’s flotilla initiative, sought to breach the maritime security blockade on the Gaza Strip. Previously, it had declared to authorities that it was headed for Egypt’s Alexandria port.
As Al-Karama approached Gaza, Israel Navy officials contacted the ship via radio, warning its captain of the blockade and offering to transfer any of the ship’s goods to Gaza by established land crossings. Following the ship’s refusal, IDF Navy soldiers peacefully boarded the Al-Karama ship without incident and offered its passengers food and water, as seen in the photos. In addition, the passengers’ health was verified by Israeli doctors.
Now that is incredible service. I can't think of a more entertaining vacation.  They should pay for it.

Kenya to Burn Tons of Ivory From Poached Elephants on July.

Labels: »
The Wildlife Conservation Network (WCN) today announced that its Kenya-based elephant conservation partner, Save the Elephants (STE), endorses the decision by the Kenya Wildlife Service to publicly set fire to five tons of confiscated tusks and processed ivory, which were seized in Singapore in 2002. The July 20 action in Tsavo West National Park is directed toward engaging the cooperation of the nations of the world in fighting illicit trade in ivory. - PR News Wire
that is a stupid and unsustainable solution. it won't stop demand... in fact it will increase demand... and I'm sure Kenya could use money to help their people. Another example of good intentions not helping. do something for the people with confiscated ivory. do something with a spectacle that installs a sense of guilt to the populace. a museum of ivory?

Larry Tribe says raising the Debt Ceiling is unConstitutional. Says it to his own frustrated cronies.

Michael McConnell, a leading First Amendment scholar (who is now at Stanford) and former Tenth Circuit judge (2002–2009), praises Larry Tribe’s stand on the constitutionality of the debt ceiling (see, for instance, this guest post). An excerpt from Prof. McConnell’s post at Advancing a Free Society:
A week ago Washington was abuzz with the seemingly nifty idea that Section Four of the Fourteenth Amendment could empower the President to borrow money above the debt ceiling, without congressional authorization. Now the idea seems to be dead. Not only has Secretary Geithner’s lawyer repudiated the suggestion, but the Secretary has denied he ever even floated the idea.
Part of the reason this idea lost favor is that it was wrong on the merits. But it helped – maybe even decisively – that Professor Laurence Tribe, professor at Harvard Law School and well-known Obama enthusiast, stood up and publicly denounced the faulty constitutional interpretation on which it rested, in an op-ed in the New York Times.
Professor Tribe deserves praise for this. It is not easy for a prominent intellectual to pull the rug out from under a political scheme of his allies, especially in a high-stakes partisan confrontation like the debt ceiling talks in Washington, where the Administration would dearly love to neutralize the leverage the debt ceiling gives Congress to force budgetary reform. This is what distinguishes a scholar from a hack: the willingness to analyze a question dispassionately and tell the truth even when it is politically inconvenient. via volokh.com

Gender Roles: For Young Boys, Is Pink the New Blue?

Robert Lovelace preparing to abduct Clarissa Harlowe, by Francis Hayman
We actually created the color scheme that we now define as gender based," Eliot told "GMA." Kids learn that one color is "bad" for them from adults. (abc)

Media really didn't do their homework. Pink for men and Light Blue for women used to be the Norm. Light Blue was a sign of virginity and purity which is the trait preferred. Pink used to be a sign of class. You might say men in Pink is a sign debauchery and an excessive culture of the aristocratic class.
