UNESCO converts Maimonides to Islam

Labels: » » » » » » » » »
The Rambam is likely rolling over in his grave upon hearing of his 'conversion' to Islam.
Moses Maimonides is known as the greatest Jewish philosopher and codifier of Jewish law in history. Born in Cordova, Spain, he was forced to flee from fanatical Moslems at the age of thirteen, where he traveled with his family to North Africa, and ten years later to Palestine. As a result of the devastation left by the Crusaders, Palestine was virtually uninhabitable, forcing the family to move to Fostat (current day Cairo).
Just when you thought they couldn't get any crazier, UNESCO has converted the Rambam (Maimonides) to Islam.
On a final note, a recent UNESCO report on science, Jewish physician and theologian Maimonides is classified as a Muslim named “Moussa ben Maimoun.” So the Rambam - for Rabbi Moshe Ben Maimon – has been forced to “convert” to Islam by the UN’s revisionist historians.
During the Middle Ages, the French Inquisition confiscated and burned Maimonides's books. From the elegant Parisian boulevards, UNESCO’s inquisitors are now following the same dreadful solution of rendering history and the Holy Land "Judenrein."
And this is just the latest chapter in UNESCO's war against the Jews, writes Giulio Meotti.

Glenn Beck's Restoring Courage rally will NOT be held at the South Wall of the Temple Mount as originally planned due to fear of assassination. .

If they hold the rally on the Mount of Olives, I hope they do it in the lower part where they will not have to go through Arab neighborhoods to get there.
I wonder whether they will consider Mount Scopus on the Hebrew U campus, which has a stunning view of the Old City and the Temple Mount.

Amira Hass: IDF does not ask about weapons to flotilla

Labels: »
Amira Hass reports from the deck of the French yacht Dignite al-Karama.
When the Karame was some 50 miles away from Gaza, the Israel Navy began trailing the yacht and contacted the passengers on board, demanding they state their final destination and disclose if they are carrying any weapons.
A member of the Greek delegation to Gaza answered the questions and promised that they are not carrying any kind of weapons. He said their destination is the Gaza port.
An Israel Defense Forces official confirmed that the Israel Navy contacted the yacht, and warned it that it is nearing a blockaded area. Defense establishment sources stressed that they would not allow any kind of vessels to dock in the Gaza Strip, so any ship trying to break the blockade would be intercepted.
Greta Berlin of the Free Gaza Movement said the Dignite-Al Karame had previously declared Alexandria, Egypt, as its destination so it could slip out of Greece, and then changed its route to Gaza, saying it was a legal move.
And what do you know - Ms. Hass is lying again. I played the video of the IDF making contact with the French yacht. Here it is again. You will note that the IDF does NOT ask about weapons. They ask about cargo.
Let's go to the videotape.

Jordan will vote against a Palestinian Nation?

Labels: » » » » » »
The Guardian reports that the 'Palestinians' may be looking for a way out of the 'statehood' trap
Some Palestinian observers believe the PA leadership, despite its robust statements committing to the UN approach, may also be quietly seeking a way to "climb down the tree".
A Kuwaiti paper reported last week that Jordan will vote against the creation of a 'Palestinian' reichlet if it comes up for a vote in the UN General Assembly in September.
On the other hand, Jordan is nearing a crossroads in its attitude toward the Palestinians. In my book, The Political Legacy of King Hussein (2004), I analyze the advantages that Hussein could have found in losing of the West Bank to Israel.
First and foremost, Israel would be in charge of resolving the Palestinian issue, and the Palestinians would not be in a position to claim Jordan as a Palestinian state.
In recent months, Israel seems to have divorced itself from its traditional policy of resisting a Palestinian state at all costs.
In the Jordanian mind, this translates to a position that might endanger the very existence of the Hashemite Kingdom, as well as the 1994 Israeli-Jordanian Peace Treaty, and a de-facto abandonment of the traditional friendship between the two countries that has survived many crisis since 1960.
Jordan has tried (and usually succeeded) in letting Israel lead the way against the creation of a Palestinian state. However, Israel is now seen as being too weak to halt a Palestinian independence process. The creation of such a state would put Jordan’s very existence in jeopardy: The PLO is formally and spiritually committed to taking over all of mandatory Palestine – i.e., Jordan, the territories and Israel. Considering that Israel would hold its ground within the 1967 lines, the next target of a small, economically weak, irredentist Palestinian state would be Jordan – a country that has already served as a battleground for the PLO in 1970-71.
If, indeed, this is the current Jordanian reading, it follows that the US and Israel are seen as weak players that cannot be trusted to support the kingdom.
That reading sounds pretty accurate to me. Read the whole thing.
It would be easier for everyone if the Arabs just clarified the words of Mohammad and said Palestine was not the goal. The goal is to kill the Jews in Israel because Islamic texts say that is what will happen.

Noam Sheizaf: Palestinian Arabs forced to buy Chanukah candy!

Labels: » » » » » »
Noam Sheizaf said:
Back to planet Earth: Israel controls the economy of the West Bank and Gaza. Israel decides what goods are let in and out, just as it has most of the control over electric power and water in the territories. This is called “the occupation,” something that EOZ and the likes of him have yet to hear about.
If that is true, wouldn't one expect to see a certain reluctance about selling Israeli goods in their supermarkets? Wouldn't one expect that only Israeli staples would be sold, but unnecessary snack items would be eschewed? Wouldn't one expect that outraged Palestinian Arabs would insist that non-essential items be - boycotted?
Yet in this Gaza supermarket, goods from Osem (for example) are not only sold - but the Hebrew logo is prominently displayed! It is almost as if the shopkeepers want to sell Israeli items to their poor, deprived Gaza customers!

The Israeli ice cream is not hidden by the embarrassed store owners in the back of the store. On the contrary, even the Hebrew display graphics are prominently featured:

And, yes, the Chanukah chocolate coins - complete with a menorah prominently stamped - are not being burned in a bonfire at a Gaza square, but are being sold to unsuspecting Arab victims of Israeli hegemony!

Sharp Rise In Energy Demand May Pressure Higher Oil Output

Labels: » » » » » » » » »
The energy chess board is spread out. Moves and counter-moves are in the making. The International Energy Agency [IEA is the advisory body to Organization of Economic Cooperation and Development-OECD] is taking another look at the oil markets later this week to decide its next move.
The IEA is now expected to convene its members by July 23 to decide whether to release more emergency oil stocks. In its July monthly report, the IEA warned that despite the 0.8 million bpd [barrels per day] increase in OPEC production in June, the need for additional oil supplies this quarter from the group has barely diminished.
"We're still seeing a sharp rise in the call for the third quarter overall," David Fyfe, the IEA Oil Industry & Markets head emphasized, adding, "we're really going to be assessing the situation very carefully in the early part of next week."
The gap between actual OPEC output and what the world needs the [cartel] to produce in the third quarter to meet seasonal demand increase, was 1.3 million barrels a day in June, versus 1.5 million barrels a day in May, the IEA said. A significant part of this supply gap will be filled by the emergency stock release during July and August, avoiding a "damaging and sustained surge in international oil prices," the IEA emphasized.
Although Fyfe appears convinced, that the IEA move last month was correct, his view is not shared by everyone. Germany and Italy are likely to oppose a second release of emergency [strategic] oil reserves by the IEA, a French government source was quoted as saying on Friday.
This impression was reinforced when a German government official said that oil reserves previously released by the IEA have not been fully utilized. Question marks about the demand side of the equation continue to haunt the markets.
On the other hand, analysts kept speculating about the real reason behind the move. The appetite for oil from strategic reserves is greater today than it was after Hurricane Katrina in 2005, the IEA said. Issuing a firm rebuttal to critics, the IEA underscored the draw-down was having the intended impact. "In the case of crude oil, anticipation of more supplies from some Middle Eastern countries first, and then from IEA strategic stocks, helped to put downward pressure on prices," its Monthly Oil Report insisted.
For the IEA to make another release from its strategic reserves is extraordinary in many ways. There are definite clouds on the crude horizon. Investor appetite seems subdued after China's crude imports tumbled by 11.5% in June from a year earlier to 4.8 million barrels per day, their lowest in eight months. Investors remain on edge also on fears the Euro zone crisis could spill over to Italy, the region's third-largest economy and Spain - reinforcing fears about the global economic downturn.
And in the meantime, Saudi Arabia is ramping up production. It has significantly increased its output in June compared with May and could produce more in July, the executive director of the International Energy Agency conceded last Tuesday. "There is a significant increase from Saudi in June, and probably in July too," Nobuo Tanaka said on the sidelines of a meeting at the European Parliament.
IEA estimated that Saudi output increased to 9.7 million bpd in June - the highest level since February 2006. It suggested the kingdom's production has continued to climb this month, possibly reaching 10m b/d. A person familiar with the matter said that Saudi Arabia has offered extra crude to its customers for August but refiners, particularly from Asia, have largely declined.
A senior OPEC Gulf delegate also told Reuters that Saudi Arabia produced more than 9.8 million barrels of oil per day in June - despite an emergency stock release by consumer nations. Production of 9.8 million bpd would mark the highest monthly figure this year and an increase of as much as 900,000 bpd from the previous month based on a Reuters survey of May output.
The ongoing fluctuation in the market seems more a result of geo-political and global economic undercurrents, rather than fundamentals. Drawing down from the strategic reserves could only carry a limited impact. After all this is not a tool to be used to bring the prices down. It was meant as a strategic cushion - and it should remain so.
Apparently IEA gave in to political pressure and now feels itself in a corner - the step has failed to deliver. It's time IEA steps back from interfering in the market mechanisms. That has never been its mandate, and it has limits to its powers in that direction.

Taxi Driver to children outside of Yeshiva: ‘All Jewish children must die!'

(For all the claims of Islam was a champion of science's in the past, it appears that the only thing these clever people are able to do, is drive a Taxis)
Taha Osman, 36, shrieked 'All Jewish children must die' at shocked mums outside King David School in Crumpsall
...Taha Osman...
Anyway while off duty Taha decided to go shopping during the evening school run and found himself stuck in traffic outside King David School. Angry at been caught up in Traffic, Taha like all Muslims decided to vent all his frustration out on Jewish women and children. Which is why shocked Children asked their mothers why that man was shouting at them. Not known for intelligent banter Taha proceeded too shout out of his car window : ‘All Jewish children must die!’ which was followed up by: 'Jewish people were ‘animals’ who ‘should not be allowed in this country’.
For acting like only a Muslim can towards Jewish women and children, Taha pleaded not guilty to causing religiously aggravated harassment, alarm and distress . Unfortunately for Taha people in the UK have woken up to the lie that is 'Islam is a religion of peace and he was found guilty.
However as this is the UK, his punishment was a community order. Thankfully the taxi firm which employed him had more of a backbone than the courts and he was sacked. Me I would deport his Islamic arse back to Iraq where he can blame the jews as much as he wants. from an Eye on the World: Iraqi asylum seeker: "Jewish people are ‘animals’ who ‘should not be allowed in this country"

The Olive Tree Initiative (OTI): George Rishmawi and the Siraj Center Raise Concerns

He said that Peace Now claimed that 83% of settlements are on confiscated Palestinian land when in fact they had claimed the number was 40% and much of their data had proved to be based on incomplete records and was incorrect.
...and the Jewish Federation of Orange County is involved with these haters.

George Rishmawi may no longer be formally with ISM, but his perspective and approach are not likely to improve the understanding of Olive Tree Initiative (OTI) students, help them develop conflict resolution skills, or help pave the way to conciliation and peace either on the UCI campus or in the Middle East. That Rishmawi and his group are so integral to OTI’s programming casts doubt on the value of OTI itself. Speaking at UC Irvine on Nov. 22, 2010, Rishmawi said he broke with ISM several years ago over personal differences with co-founders Adam Shapiro and Huwaida Arraf, but his current goals are quite similar to those of ISM when it was originally founded: bring young “internationals” to the West Bank on tours and to live with selected Palestinian families, encourage them to become “ambassadors” who will repeat the narrative Rishmawi orchestrates, and inspire them to participate in “non-violent” actions like protesting the security fence in Bil’in. more via Roberta P. Seid, PhD
George Rishmawi co-founded the International Solidarity Movement (ISM) along with Adam Shapiro, Huwaida Arraf, and Ghassan Andoni. Led by Palestinians working closely with American recruiters, the ISM invites individuals from the West to come to the Gaza Strip and the West Bank and disrupt the counter-terrorism efforts of the Israeli Defense Force. Rishmawi directs the activities of ISM volunteers on the ground.

Rishmawi is also a director of Alternative Tourism, a group that was formed in 1995 to act as a propaganda organ for Palestinian terrorist elements that have no interest in peace – portraying Palestinians as victims of unyielding Israeli oppression and brutality. Alternative Tourism was established to greet and aid ISM volunteers who come to Israel. In April 2003, two Pakistani Muslims from Great Britain entered Israel through Jordan as clients of Alternative Tourism; they met with ISM leaders for an entire day in Gaza before proceeding on to Tel Aviv, where they bombed a popular beach bar, Mike’s Place, killing three people.  image via a non reputable source: Bob May

...it's my nature said the scorpion...
...Israel would have to consider its electoral laws and weigh the prospect of moving from a proportional representation system to a direct, district system. It would have to begin enforcing its laws toward its Arab citizens in a manner identical to the way it enforces its laws against its Jewish citizens. This includes everything from administrative laws concerning building to criminal statutes related to treason. It would have to ensure that Arab schoolchildren are no longer indoctrinated to hate Jews, despite the fact that according to the Israel Project survey, 53% of Palestinians support such anti-Semitic indoctrination in the classroom.

...In a Palestinian public opinion survey released last week by The Israel Project, 65 percent of Palestinians said they believe that they should conduct negotiations with Israel... According to the survey, those two-thirds of Palestinians believe that talks should not lead to the establishment of the State of Palestine next to Israel and at peace with the Jewish state. They believe the establishment of "Palestine" next to Israel should serve as a means for continuing their war against Israel. The goal of that war is to destroy what's left of Israel after the "peace" treaty and gobble it into "Palestine." That is, 66% of Palestinians believe "peace" talks with Israel should be conducted in bad faith. via carolineglick.com

The July 4, 1967 borders are the current borders (in fact, with respect to Syria, they are more than the current borders, because we gave some ground back after 1973). And that means no 'Palestinian state.'

Destroying Hard Drive Leads to Conviction for Obstructing Federal Investigation

Labels: » » »
One wonders what the suspect's lawyer was thinking? Why would the police not have rights to evidence once a suspect was arrested? There would of been other ways to protect the defendant... mostly involved in making up a lie. The extent of what lawyers can do unethically is better then what a lawyer could do within the system.
(Thanks to FourthAmendment.com for the link. • July 18, 2011 1:02 pm via computerdevices.org via volokh.com) The case is United States v. Hicks, an unpublished decision by the Fourth Circuit in which a child pornography suspect destroyed his hard drive in response to learning of the investigation.
According to the government’s brief, the defendant used an e-mail account to communicate with a suspected child pornography website and to purchase videos from it. Federal agents traced the e-mail account to the suspect, and they then went to the suspect’s home to ask questions. The suspect wasn’t there, but they left a business card with the suspect’s father, together with the request that the suspect contact them about his computer. The business card stated that the lead agent’s job position was as a “Child Pornography Team Leader.” The suspect called the next day and agreed to meet with the agents. During the subsequent meeting, the suspect admitted that he had seen some child pornography online and that he was familiar with some websites under investigation, but he denied having sought out child pornography or having saved any to his computer.
The agents asked the suspect if they could see his computer to confirm his story, but the suspect replied that they could not: When the suspect learned that the feds had dropped by, and when he realized that they were investigating him for child pornography, he had decided to destroy his hard drive. He “didn’t want to take any chances” of going to jail, he said. According to his brief, he had smashed his hard drive with a hammer, ran a magnet over it, and “thr[ew] the pieces out of his car window while driving.”
The feds apparently lacked the evidence to charge the suspect with possessing child pornography, but instead they charged and convicted him under a 2002 statute passed as part of the Sarbanes-Oxley Act, 18 U.S.C. 1519:
Whoever knowingly alters, destroys, mutilates, conceals, covers up, falsifies, or makes a false entry in any record, document, or tangible object with the intent to impede, obstruct, or influence the investigation or proper administration of any matter within the jurisdiction of any department or agency of the United States or any case filed under title 11, or in relation to or contemplation of any such matter or case, shall be fined under this title, imprisoned not more than 20 years, or both.
On appeal, the Fourth Circuit affirms in a per curiam opinion. First, the defendant argues that the 2002 law should not apply to him because it was intended to apply to financial crimes not individuals and personal hard drives. The court dismisses this in a footnote (see fn1) on the ground that the statute is unambiguous. The defendant then makes a Due Process challenge. Although it’s somewhat hard to follow, the argument seems to be that the computer was his own private property and that interfering with his control of the property somehow violated Due Process. The court disagrees, concluding that the passage of the statute and the notice given to him as to his charges satisfied the Due Process clause.
Finally, the suspect makes a Fourth Amendment argument, although the court muddles its brief analysis. The defendant argued that it violated his Fourth Amendment rights to convict him of destroying the computer given that it was his computer. According to the defendant, the Fourth Amendment gave him a right to control his property that was taken away when the law took away his right to destroy it, constituting an unlawful seizure. The court disagrees, stating that “there was no meaningful interference with Hicks’s possessory interests [and therefore no seizure] because he did not have a property right in the images of child pornography. See Helton v. Hunt, 330 F.3d 242, 247 (4th Cir. 2003).”
For what it’s worth, that’s not quite right. A possessory interest has nothing to do with a property right. Indeed, the whole point of contraband crimes is that they are crimes for having a possessory interest in what one cannot lawfully possess — that is, for possessing something for which one cannot have a valid property right. Helton v. Hunt says nothing to the contrary. Further, the defendant’s claim was as to the seizure of his physical hard drive, not contraband images which may or may not have been stored inside it. The court is right that there was no seizure, but it’s for a different reason: the government never took control of the property that the defendant elected to destroy. A seizure requires an actual submission to law enforcement control, see California v. Hodari D, which never occurred here. Anyway, it’s not a big deal: This is a non-precedential opinion, and the court was right that there was no seizure — and even if there was a seizure, there is no possible remedy here. Still, I thought I would point it out anyway.
