John Bolton: US Can Stop PA Initiative by Halting Funds for UN

Labels: » » » »
As far back as 1988, the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO) issued a "declaration of statehood” and changed the name of its observer delegation to the United Nations from the PLO to Palestine.

“The Palestinians then campaigned to join U.N. bodies like the World Health Organization, reasoning that since U.N. agency charters allow only states as members, the admission of ‘Palestine’ would prove that it, too, was a state,” Bolton explained in his op-ed article.

He noted that at the time, Secretary of State James Baker warned publicly, “I will recommend to the President that the United States make no further contributions, voluntary or assessed, to any international organization which makes any changes in the PLO's status as an observer organization."

Bolton stated, “Although defeating the PLO campaign required further maneuvering, Mr. Baker's statement was the death knell of the ‘statehood’ push.”

After writing that President Obama will not take such action, Bolton turned to Congress, which he said “has a rich history of dealing with U.N. actions it doesn't appreciate. Rather than wait for a Baker-like threat, Congress should legislate broadly that any U.N. action that purports to acknowledge or authorize Palestinian statehood will result in a cutoff of all U.S. contributions to the offending agency….

“Reducing U.S. funding to the U.N. is the next available, highly visible, target of opportunity. It presents the U.N. membership with a fascinating question: Would they rather recognize Palestinian statehood, or keep America's money?"

I doubt Obama will go out on a limb for a few million Jews, but I'm surprised that Baker did... interesting

NYT: 34 Americans to join new Gaza flotilla on a ship called "The Audacity of Hope" named after Obama's memoir

Labels: » »
The new flotilla will have about 10 boats filled with at least 1,000 useful idiots.
(NYT) When an international flotilla sails for Gaza this month to challenge Israel’s naval blockade of the Palestinian territory, among the boats will be an American ship with 34 passengers, including the writer Alice Walker and an 86-year-old whose parents died in the Holocaust. [...]
Organizers said the new flotilla, scheduled to leave in late June from a port they would not identify, had at least 1,000 passengers on about 10 boats. One boat will carry Spaniards, another Canadians, another Swiss and another Irish.
The Americans have named their boat “The Audacity of Hope,” lifting the title of a book by President Obama to make a point, said Leslie Cagan, a political organizer who is the coordinator of the American boat.

Who Says Sarah Palin Can't Think?

Not this Palin:
Palin has also been talking about foreign policy. In an extended on-the-bus interview with Fox News’ Greta van Susteren, Palin addressed a proposal for $2 billion in U.S. aid to Egypt. “We don’t have the $2 billion!” Palin said. “Where are we going to get it? We’re going to go borrow it perhaps from China? We’ll borrow money from foreign countries to give to foreign countries.” The problem would be far worse, Palin said, if the Muslim Brotherhood plays a significant role in a new Egyptian government and “our U.S. dollars go to support a government that perhaps will not be friendly to the American government.” via myrightword.blogspot.com

Jewish groups blast 'Foreskin Man' comic book's 'overly anti-Semitic' images on circumcision

Monster Mohel...A politically motivated comic book pitting a blond superhero called "Foreskin Man" against a sinister-looking "Monster Mohel" is causing a serious flap in California.

...Circumcision also under Attack in Finland and Massachussetts...

The colorful series was created by the "intactivist" group MGMBill.org as part of its campaign to ban circumcision through ballot initiatives.
The Anti-Defamation League (ADL) is blasting it as overtly anti-Semitic.
Matthew Hess via drmomma.org
"'Foreskin Man,' with its grotesque anti-Semitic imagery and themes, reaches a new low and is disrespectful and deeply offensive," Nancy J. Appel, ADL Associate Regional Director, said in a statement Friday.
The online series portrays a menacing-looking mohel - someone specially trained to perform the traditional Jewish circumcision ceremony - waving bloody scissors over a screaming baby laid out on a pool table.
Appel said the imagery invokes the "age-old anti-Semitic canards" such as the blood libel, the accusation that Jews ritually murder Christian children.

Matthew Hess, the president of MGMBill and the series creator, did not immediately return an email seeking comment.
His San Diego-based group has an anti-circumcision measure on the ballot in San Francisco's next election in November.

"We would have hoped those backing the anti-circumcision effort in San Francisco would know better than to use this type of anti-Semitic imagery to advance their cause," Appel said.
"No matter what one's personal opinions of male circumcision, it is irresponsible to use stereotypical caricatures of religious Jews to promote the anti-circumcision agenda."

Here, Mr. Emanuel, are the tests that Obama will fail:

1. Will the United States government call for the overthrow of the anti-American Syrian dictatorship?
2. Will the U.S. government take strong action as Egypt moves to become a radical state and stop observing the U.S.-guaranteed peace treaty with Israel?
3. Will the U.S. government take strong action to stop helping the Fatah-Hamas government, incorporating terrorist and genocidal forces?
4. Will the U.S. government take strong action to stop the fundamental transformation of Turkey into a semi-Islamist, anti-democratic, antisemitic, anti-American regime allied with Iran and Syria?
5. Will the U.S. government reverse its policies so that once again America is a world leader that will protect its allies in Latin America (against radical regimes in Venezuela, Bolivia, Brazil, and Cuba); Central Europe and the south Caucasus (against Russia); and elsewhere?
Since the answer to all of those questions is “no,” why the Hell should Israel risk its existence on your (bad) ideas and your (worthless) promises? via rubinreports.blogspot.com

Operation Cupcake

The cyber-warfare operation was launched by MI6 and GCHQ in an attempt to disrupt efforts by al-Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsular to recruit “lone-wolf” terrorists with a new English-language magazine, the Daily Telegraph understands.

didn't like the cupcakes?

When_followers tried to download the 67-page colour magazine, instead of instructions about how to “Make a bomb in the Kitchen of your Mom” by “The AQ Chef” they were greeted with garbled computer code.

The code, which had been inserted into the original magazine by the British intelligence hackers, was actually a web page of recipes for “The Best Cupcakes in America” published by the Ellen DeGeneres chat show.

Written by Dulcy Israel and produced by Main Street Cupcakes in Hudson, Ohio, it said “the little cupcake is big again” adding: “Self-contained and satisfying, it summons memories of childhood even as it's updated for today’s sweet-toothed hipsters.”

It included a recipe for the Mojito Cupcake – “made of white rum cake and draped in vanilla buttercream”- and the Rocky Road Cupcake – “warning: sugar rush ahead!”

We mustn't fear September scare tactics

Labels: » » » » » » » » »

Strategic Affairs minister rejects notion that Palestinian bid for UN unilateral declaration of state will lead to int'l isolation; says Israel ready to renew talks: "We've been waiting for Abbas for two years."
Strategic Affairs Minister Moshe Ya'alon on Saturday rejected claims that Palestinian plans to go to the UN for a unilateral statehood declaration constitute a "diplomatic tsunami" for Israel, saying "we must not be afraid of the September scare tactics." The Likud minister made the comments during an interview with Channel 2.
Ya'alon said that Israel was taking diplomatic action to stop the UN Security Council from unilaterally recognizing a Palestinian State in September. He pointed out his own recent trip to Moscow to advance Israel's diplomatic interests and the efforts of President Shimon Peres, who warned South American leaders about the harm of a unilateral statehood while on his current trip to Italy. Ya'alon said that a unilateral declaration of Palestinian statehood in the UN General Assembly would not lead to Israel's isolation or have any concrete effect on the country. He added that Israel was prepared for a Palestinian outbreak of violence as well.
The Likud minister said the government would discuss French Foreign Minister Alain Juppe's proposed peace conference in Paris in the coming days.
Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas on Saturday cautiously welcomed a French proposal to convene Israeli and Palestinian negotiators in Paris to try to renew collapsed peace talks. Juppe this week offered to host talks to discuss ideas for a Palestinian state raised last month by US President Barack Obama, aiming to avert a showdown at the United Nations in September.
"We said that in principle this initiative is acceptable," Abbas told Reuters, two days after his talks with Juppe in Ramallah.
Abbas said the French plan "talks about President Obama's vision ...in which he spoke about a [Palestinian] state with the '67 borders with Israel, Egypt and Jordan."
Under the plan discussed with Juppe, "neither side would carry out unilateral actions," Abbas added.
Ya'alon said that there were "paradigm differences between the two sides." He stated that while Abbas had expressed willingness to go to Paris, the PA president had not agreed to begin negotiations with Israel.
"We are ready to go to the table. We have been waiting for Abu Mazen [Abbas] for two years," Ya'alon told Channel 2.
Juppe said he is "slightly optimistic" after his Mideast visit.
"I would be lying if I said I was very optimistic. I am slightly optimistic," Juppe said after his talks with Netanyahu.
The French proposal calls for Israeli and Palestinian negotiators to meet this month or by early July with an eye to reviving talks which broke off last year in a dispute on Jewish settlement building in land Palestinians seek for a state.

Expect a raucous debate in Tromsø Norway

Labels: » » » »
It’s a wonderful thing: The United Nations Association in Tromsø is hosting International Week, where participants “among other things … will learn how to make a wallet out of a milk carton, learn Esperanto or origami, and go bird-watching.”Of course, the whole Israel thing will get attention, too, so there will be a debate with the following participants:
Line Khateeb, the head of the Palestine Committee in Norway, which is to say the far left wing of the anti-Israeli crowd.

  • Mads Gilbert, local to Tromsø, who has made Israel famous for co-inventing the horrors of war, along with the other great evil, the United States. (The same dude who thought New Yorkers had it coming on 9/11 for being Americans)
Gunnar Nerdrum, who wants to arrest Israeli officials and prosecute them for protecting Israeli citizens

...and Bent Andresen (not the famous Danish Quaker, who died a while ago), who apparently is an attorney with nothing published on the matter, but who will still give an introduction on international law and Israel/Palestine. I’m going to go out on a limb here and guess that he will focus primarily on Israel’s culpability and not so much on Israel’s defense.

  • The debate should ensure that participants get a fair and balanced view of the conflict, in the Fox News sense of the term. In fact, some people might have concerns that these four might have difficulty debating anything, as they seem to be on the same page on all central issues. You know, that any decent person would denounce Israel in the strongest possible terms.
So here are some suggestions for issues to discuss that there might be some disagreement about:
    • Is it more accurate to characterize the Zionist enterprise as: colonial? imperialist? racist? Or should all three count equally? If so, what is their order of preference in speeches, etc.?
    • What is is about Israeli policy that has caused Hamas to be more radical organization than Fatah?
    • Have we reached the point where Israel is more like Nazi Germany in 1944 than 1939?
    • Who is the closest comparison to Netanyahu? Mussolini, Pinochet, or George Bush?
    • Which is a greater violation of international law? Israel protecting its border, Israel responding to rocket attacks, or Israel wanting to have its own capital?
    • What is the right protocol for addressing the Iranian delegation to Durban III?via israelwhat.com

Really Sarah Palin, a 3rd Party, split the GOP Ticket?

    Labels:

Sarah Palin gave an advance warning to the Republican Party. On an interview with Fox last night, a tired Sarah Palin spoke in-depth about resurgence, a third-party being formed to run in the 2012 Presidential election. Because of the change in conditions last year,  the incumbent  GOP are resisting the movement of freshman conservatives that were elected in the November 2010 election, Sarah believes.
she is trying to bring the Paultards back to the GOP. they really are Dixiecrats and she knows it. Dixiecrats as in Democrats...you know the party that used to lynch Jews and Blacks. Ron Paul's favorite pres was Garfield. many Conservatives in 1976 voted for Jimmy Carter

Maybe Sarah had too much pizza in NYC this past week with Donald Trump.

Donald Trump spoke after their meeting about the GOP ticket, running as an Independent. “I Could Win The Presidency As An Independent,” Trump explained at the Faith and Freedom Convention.   The reasoning behind the remark,  if Trump did not like the Republican nominee. Previously, Trump said he had no intentions of splitting the ticket.   Sadly, that would ensure an Obama 2012 re-election.  I wonder which side Trump is working for? Or is Trump craving for the spotlight to continue working for the liberal agenda of NBC?
What did I tell you? You obviously were not a Bloom County reader. I’d still have sex with Donald’s daughter… who is probably a really nice girl… who just happens to be pretty and I would of liked to of deflowered in a rude manner. Am I fired yet?
The National News outlets has begun their smear campaign in subtle fashion with Sarah Palin . The location Boston, MA, Sarah Palin “One Nation” tour stopped yesterday. Sarah  was displaying her knowledge with clarity  of Paul Revere midnight journey when asked by a reporter.  Brain Williams took a cheap shot at Palin at the conclusion of his story on NBC last night.
Sorry Brian, Sarah was correct.  Paul Revere’s Midnight Ride.
Oh, how soon we forget the Law Prof Obama mistakes of 57 States and the difference between of Memorial and Veteran’s Day.

All apologies will be accepted from the left  pundits. The list is here.
This is the NBC original video with Brian Williams, listen to his remark at the end.

point is she knows the story and she made a slip by pushing her slant on it that her opponents disagree with and it isn't that she is wrong... it is the liberals who went to school and got brainwashed instead of learning to think. Sarah is no dummy and people hurt themselves when they make that cla...im. It is a tried strategy to tie her to former Dan Quayle because he was a pretty boy who would get very angry when you would insult his I.Q.... but if anything she is very intelligent. Her problem stems from a need to reach out to the Ron Pauls in her party who are about to split the party in half... and I think we should let them. The Tea Party indeed is not worth keeping. The GOP is not about idealism.

she knew exactly what she was saying here... she was hoping to drop that historical slant... because she is right... and the knee jerk reaction on people against the constitution is not right.
actually.... if I remember correctly from what I learned... Paul Revere didn't succeed in warning anyone... and the story is more mythological then anything

US MUSLIM- Issues Command For American Muslims to ARM UP and TARGET Non Muslims.

    Labels: »
...Adam Gadahn, a highly influential al Qaeda figure born in America, has issued a call to arms for U.S. Muslims.

In a newly released video (scroll down to view), Gadahn tells Muslims in the West to stockpile assault rifles and "target major institutions and public figures."
"Do not rely on others, take the task upon yourself," Gadahn said, according to the Middle East Media Research Institute. "What are you waiting for? America is absolutely awash with easily obtainable firearms."
The two-hour incendiary video began popping up on jihadi websites Friday. In addition to offering tips on how to obtain firearms, Gadahn gives examples of potential targets: Merrill Lynch, Bank of America and Exxon.

"It's just a matter of entrusting the matter to Allah and choosing the right place, the right time and the right method," Gadahn said.

Fear of getting caught should not be a deterrent, according to Gadahn: “If it's Allah's will that you be captured, then it's not the end the world and it doesn't necessarily mean that you're going to spend the rest of your life in prison," he said.
Gadahn, 32, was born in California in 1978 to a Jewish father and Christian mother. At age 17, he converted to Islam and was recruited by a mosque that had links to al Qaeda. Gadahn later fled to Afghanistan, where he joined up with al Qaeda, met Osama bin Laden and became the terrorist group’s main propagandist.
AdvertisementA U.S. court indicted Gadahn in absentia for treason in 2006. The FBI considers him one of the "most wanted terrorists" in the world, and the State Department is offering a $1 million reward for his capture.
"Muslims in the West have to remember that they are perfectly placed to play an important and decisive part in the jihad against the Zionists and crusaders, and to do major damage to the enemies of Islam, waging war on their religion, sacred places and things and brethren," Gadahn said. "This is a golden opportunity and a blessing."

    Remembering Khomeini...Without Ahmadinejad

    Labels: » » » » » » » » » »
0630 GMT: The Ceremony. And with that reference to the brief disturbance caused by the enemy, the Supreme Leader is back to praising Iranian officials and their "great achievements", with "great security" that has thwarted the enemy. There is economic progress, and scientific achievement of "11- or 12-fold".
0625 GMT: The Ceremony. The Supreme Leader hits his stride about a "10-year enemy plot" --- "I don't have any specific evidence. This is just my interpretation."
And now the reference to the 2009 Presidential election: "the enemy was of the conviction that it could have made its plot work." The passage is somewhat rambling, as the Supreme Leader says "the enemy...created unrest for 2 or 3 months in Tehran".
This plot, of course, was defeated by the Iranian people, who rallied for the regime on Qods Day and Ashura in 2009. [Ed's Note: This is a bit of a revision of history, given that the Green Movement had its public high point on Ashura with mass gatherings that even pushed back security forces.]
0622 GMT: A Clerical Intervention. A different type of remembrance of Ayatollah Khomeini yesterday by Ayatollah Dastgheib, as he continues his criticism of the regime --- "The Imam didn't want to be an absolute ruler but guide people to goodness. You have defamed Islam."
0620 GMT: The Ceremony. Now it is getting a bit more interesting. The Supreme Leader takes aim at those who defy "spirituality" and "distance people from society", "keeping young people from participating in the political events".
He continues, "These people have deviated."
0610 GMT: The Battle Within. Not much happening at the Khomeini ceremony beyond the Supreme Leader's lengthy tribute, so a quick reminder of last night's LiveBlog....
Any supposed political truce was rocked on Friday by a series of statements, including the declaration by Ayatollah Mesbah Yazdi --- the former "spiritual mentor" of the President --- that the Ahmadinejad camp is "trash" and the attack by a clerical representative of the Supreme Leader upon the Revolutionary Guards and Ayatollah Khamenei's office.
And this video puts a bit more fuel on the flames. Revolutionary Guards Commander Saeed Qassemi taunts Ahmadinejad, "You released the eight British spies with the help of British Ambassador."
Qassemi is referring to the detention and release in 2007 of 15 British naval personnel, seized when their boat allegedly strayed into Iranian waters.
0603 GMT: The Ceremony. Ahmadinejad is in the front row of the audience, between Khomeini's grandson Seyed Hassan and the head of judiciary, Sadegh Larijani (and two seats from his rival, former President Hashemi Rafsanjani). He is looking uncomfortable.
Other major Iranian political and religious figures are also present, including Speaker of Parliament Ali Larijani.
0600 GMT: The Supreme Leader is already speaking in Tehran, paying tribute to Ayatollah Khomeini for making the "Iranian nation believe they are the real owners of the country".
0545 GMT: Iran's state media are already featuring today's ceremonies marking the death of Ayatollah Khomeini, as "millions of Iranians from across the country travel to Tehran to pay tribute to the late leader". The press and broadcasters are announcing that "Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei will address the gathering on Saturday".
What they are not saying is that President Ahmadinejad will not be addressing that gathering.
In the midst of Iran's political conflict, Ahmadinejad was rebuffed by the Khomeini Foundation last month. The organisers declared that, as the President had not met the deadline to announce his attendance, he would not be speaking.
The simple but effective rejection was another blow against the President in his contest for power with the Supreme Leader, the Guardian, Parliament, and the judiciary. It was also payback for 4 June 2010, when his supporters shouted down Khomeini's grandson at the Tehran ceremony.
And there was more embarrassment for Ahmadinejad last night. The President tried to regain ground at a memorial ceremony, but his speech was interrupted by competing chants, as critics denounced his right-hand man Esfandiar Rahim-Mashai.
it looks like A'jad is in trouble
