NY Times: Islamism Finished! LOLZ

Karim Sadjampour, who is associated with the Carnegie Endowment, tells us--in the New York Times, of course:
"The Arab risings have revealed that Iran's revolutionary ideology has not only been rendered bankrupt at home, but it has also lost the war of ideas among its neighbors."

Egyptian Feminist Writer Calls to Not Exclude Youth and Women from Constitution Committee

Labels: » » » » »
Support Women's Rights. Not Power Based Feminism, but I salute the women in Islamic countries who struggle for human dignity. It is too bad you can not live in a Western Model
Birth of an Idea
Dr. Nawal Al-Sa'dawi, a prominent Egyptian writer and women's rights activist, criticized the absence of youth and women in the judiciary committee formed to draft changes to Egypt's constitution. In an editorial that appeared in the English-language online edition of the Egyptian government daily Al-Ahram, she wrote that those who had participated in the uprising and risked their lives to ensure its success have earned the right to be represented in the committee. She denied that the right to amend the constitution is the exclusive privilege of lawmakers, pointing out that "there are hundreds of thinkers among the ranks [of the youth] who are qualified in every sector, including the law." She also noted that the committee includes representatives from various sectors that make up a far smaller percentage of Egypt's population than its women, such as the Coptic community and the Muslim Brotherhood.
Al-Sa'dawi called for the reinstitution of the Egyptian Women's Union, which was dissolved by the regime following Hosni Mubarak's rise to power in the 1980s.
It should be noted that the U.S. has also expressed concern over the lack of women on the constitution committee

Henry Kissinger Calls On President Obama To Free Jonathan Pollard

Labels: »
As the calls for clemency for Jonathan Pollard continue to intensify, Henry A. Kissinger, an elder statesman, well-respected diplomat, and experienced member of the United States intelligence community, has become the latest American governmental leader to issue a public call for Pollard’s release.  Pollard has spent more than 25 years languishing in a federal prison for passing classified information to Israel, an ally of the United States.
The following is the text of Henry Kissinger’s letter to President Obama:

I would have written this letter sooner but for a long trip abroad, from which I have just returned. While I was gone, I gave much thought to the question of clemency for Jonathan Pollard. At first I felt I did not have enough information to render a reasoned and just opinion. But having talked with George Shultz and read the statements of former CIA Director Woolsey, former Senate Intelligence Committee Chairman DeConcini, former Defense Secretary Weinberger, former Attorney General Mukasey and others whose judgments and first-hand knowledge I respect, I find their unanimous support for clemency compelling. I believe justice would be served by commuting the remainder of Pollard’s sentence of life imprisonmen

I question why it took Kissinger 30 years

Libya’s first lady owns 20 tons of gold: reports

DUBAI (Mohamed al-Naeimi)
Since the start of the Libyan revolution on Feb. 17, Libya’s first lady Safia Farkash has not been in the limelight unlike her Tunisian and Egyptian counterparts even though she is known for her enormous wealth and considerable influence.
Safia Farkash owns an airline company called Buraq Air headquartered in the Mittiga International Airport in the Libyan capital Tripoli. Farkash operates the company with the approval of her husband even though it is a rival of the Libyan national carrier and monopolizes the transfer of Libyan pilgrims.
Reports of Farkash’s wealth are varried, but one of the most widely-circulated reports suggests that the first lady owns 20 tons of gold.
News of Farkash’s wealth is in line with the Wiki Leaks documents which stated that Gaddafi is the head of a family that is powerful and rich, yet divided and dysfunctional.
According to Wiki Leaks, Farkash is generally low profile. She travelled in a rented plane and a procession of cars drove her from the airport to her destination. Even the banquet she held at the Bab al-Azizia compound, Gaddafi’s main headquarters, to celebrate the anniversary of the 1969 revolution was quite modest.
During the Lockerbie crisis, the International Coalition against War Criminals (ICAWC), based in France, revealed in 1992 that Gaddafi’s wealth had reached 80 billion U.S. dollars and that his wife’s was estimated at 30 billion.

Story of first lady

Safia Farkash al-Baraasi is the second wife of Libya leader Muammar Gaddafi. She was born in the city of al-Baida in eastern Libyan and hails from al-Baraaesa tribe. They got to know each other when she worked as a nurse and he was admitted to hospital for an appendectomy in 1971. They got married the same year and had seven children, six boys and their only daughter Ayesha.
During the first years of their marriage, Farkash rarely made media appearances, yet in the past few years she started engaging in social activities like taking part in celebrating the 1969 revolution that brought her husband to power and attending the graduation of female police students in 2010.
In 2008, Farkash was elected vice president to the African First Ladies Organization in a meeting of African Union leaders in the Egyptian Red Sea city Sharm al-Sheikh even though she was not present at the meeting and has never taken part in activities related to it.
Several websites reported that Farkash and her daughter Ayesha landed in Germany on February 20, but no one denied or confirmed the news.

If You Think The West Has Whitewashed Kaddafi For Years, What About Abbas?

Labels: » » » »

We have already seen how reluctant the West was to admit that their rehabilitation of Kaddafi was a complete sham. The world was slow to respond to the shooting of the protesters. Even now, for all the talk and condemnation, the West is uneasy about taking action.  Does anyone really think that the West will admit the degree of corruption rampant in Abbas and his government--let alone its repression of the Arabs in the West Bank. Like the deliberate incitement of hate against Israel that is a regular feature of Abbas's policy, the oppressive actions of the Palestinian Authority against both its people and the press proceed unchallenged by either the West or the media.  via daledamos.blogspot.com Posted via email from noahdavidsimon's posterous

Obama Backers Blame Israel and the GOP for Ruining His Brilliant Plans in Egypt

Labels: » » »

“The administration is already taking steps to distinguish between various movements in the region that promote Islamic law in government. An internal assessment, ordered by the White House last month, identified large ideological differences between such movements as the Muslim Brotherhood in Egypt and al-Qaeda that will guide the U.S. approach to the region.”
Get it? Al-Qaeda is bad because it wants to attack U.S. embassies, the World Trade Center, and the Pentagon.
BUT the Muslim Brotherhood is good! Because it merely wants to seize state power, transform Egypt into an Islamist state, rule almost 90 million people with an iron hand, back Hamas in trying to destroy Israel, overthrow the Palestinian Authority, help Jordan’s Muslim Brotherhood overthrow the monarchy, and sponsor terrorism against Americans in the Middle East.
I’m sure you can see the difference. This is the nonsense that the administration has been working toward for two years. It is the doctrine pushed by the president’s advisor on terrorism, elements in the CIA, and White House ideologues. The State and Defense departments are probably horrified.

FAKE PASSPORTS

, BUT THE BRITISH DON'T PANIC
UNLESS THEY ARE JEWS PROTECTING THEMSELVES

Libyan rebels have released a British special forces team who were detained when a mission to contact opponents of Colonel Muammar Gaddafi went wrong, it was revealed tonight.

The eight-strong group, who were escorting a junior diplomat, has now left the country bound for Malta on board HMS Cumberland.
...According to reports, guards challenged the SAS team when they arrived at an agricultural compound in the eastern city of Benghazi.
They were detained after a search of their bags revealed ammunition, explosives, maps and fake passports.

The BBC says the passports were from at least four different nationalities.
In Libya, there are presently one million refugees from sub-Saharan Africa whose ambition is to get in a boat to Italy. There isn’t a lot to stop them.
Democratic Republics have limitations and checks and balances. Borders are what keep these checks and balances from representing a larger area then can be represented fairly.
Do you remember the reason for the 1776 revolution? The idea was no taxation without representation. Obviously the revolution fell short, but we need to be still fighting for independence from those powers that think they know better then local representation.
I had a terrible education. I attended a school for emotionally disturbed teachers.
-Woody Allen

It always was about helping some one else's kids when we talk about our parents and teachers. Always about empathy for the children on the other side of the border.
Maybe the Brits should have sent James Bond (pictured here with an Aston-Martin). Maybe it wouldn't have helped.
A group of British agents from SAS and MI6, who traveled to Benghazi to meet with the Libyan rebels, were caught and sent back to England with their tails between their legs.
But here's the funniest part.
According to Guardian sources, the British intelligence and special forces unit were caught near the al-Khadra Farm Company, 18 miles (30km) south-west of Benghazi. A senior member of Benghazi's revolutionary council said: "They were carrying espionage equipment, reconnaissance equipment, multiple passports and weapons. This is no way to conduct yourself during an uprising.
"Gaddafi is bringing in thousands of mercenaries to kill us, most are using foreign passports and how do we know who these people are?
"They say they're British nationals and some of the passports they have are British. But the Israelis used British passports to kill that man in Dubai last year."
What, they want the Israelis to come to Benghazi to help them? Or do they fear we'll help Gadhafi? Heh.
With evidence lacking against Israel now the BBC points the finger at all Jews around the world

Of Balkans and Boomer Condemnation of Progeny

Labels: » » » » » » » » » » » »
Media_httpgraphics8ny_wacrp
According to Bismarck’s best-known maxim on Europe’s most troublesome region, the Balkans are not worth the bones of a single Pomeranian grenadier. Americans could be forgiven for harboring similar sentiments after the murder of two U.S. airmen in Germany by a Kosovar Muslim.

Remember Kosovo? Me neither. But it was big at the time, launched by Bill Clinton in the wake of his Monica difficulties: Make war, not love, as the boomers advise. So Clinton did — and without any pesky U.N. resolutions, or even the pretense of seeking them.
More Steyn:
Instead, he and Tony Blair and even Jacques Chirac just cried “Bombs away!” and got on with it. And the left didn’t mind at all — because, for a modern western nation, war is only legitimate if you have no conceivable national interest in whatever war you’re waging.
Unlike Iraq and all its supposed “blood for oil,” in Kosovo no one remembers why we went in, what the hell the point of it was, or which side were the good guys. (Answer: Neither.) The principal rationale advanced by Clinton and Blair was that there was no rationale. This was what they called “liberal interventionism”, which boils down to: The fact that we have no reason to get into it justifies our getting into it.
A decade on, Kosovo is a sorta sovereign state, and in Frankfurt a young airport employee is so grateful for what America did for his people that he guns down U.S. servicemen while yelling “Allahu akbar!”
The nations that built the modern world decided to outsource their future. In simple economic terms, the arithmetic is stark: In America, the boomers have condemned their shrunken progeny to the certainty of poorer, meaner lives.
In sociocultural terms, the transformation will be even greater. Bismarck, so shrewd and cynical about the backward Balkans, was also the father of the modern welfare state: When he introduced the old age pension, you had to be 65 to collect and Prussian life expectancy was 45.
