The faction that is led by Palestinian Authority Chairman Mahmoud Abbas and which leads the PA has officially declared its refusal to recognize Israel as a Jewish State.
The Fatah Revolutionary Council voted to “affirm its rejection of the so-called Jewish state or any other formula that could achieve this goal” at its fifth convention in Ramallah over the weekend.
status quo... just so you know is they kill Jews.  Moderate Jew Killers

Fatah was opposed to the concept of swapping land for peace, because “illegal settler gangs cannot be placed on an equal footing with the owners of the lands and rights.”

Abbas also vowed not to return to the negotiating table unless Israel completely froze Jewish construction throughout Judea, Samaria, and all areas of Jerusalem claimed by the Palestinian Authority for its hoped-for new country.
Last Sunday thousands protested in Jerusalem against Israeli Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu’s agreement to a 90-day extension of the freeze.

U.S. President Barack Obama had threatened to back a unilateral PA declaration of statehood if Israel did not agree to the freeze. Obama also said, however, that there would be no demands for any further freeze extensions if Israel were to agree to the current “request.”
“The Council also renews its refusal for the establishment of any racist state based on religion in accordance with international law and human rights conventions,” the council said in a statement issued at the end of the convention.
In addition, the statement said Fatah was opposed to the concept of swapping land for peace, because “illegal settler gangs cannot be placed on an equal footing with the owners of the lands and rights.”
The latest efforts by the United States to bring Israel and the PA back to the negotiating table did not help the cause of peace, opined the Council, because it could “harm Palestinian rights and prolong the occupation… and such gifts to the occupier will only make the occupier more stubborn and radical.”
The Council also condemned the new Israeli law that mandates a full nationwide Israeli referendum prior to ceding land from within Jerusalem or the Golan Heights, saying it violated international law. Fatah Council members urged the PA leadership to fight the measure in the United Nations plenum and in U.N. Security Council.
PA Chairman and Fatah leader Mahmoud Abbas received the Council’s sole praise, with Fatah leaders expressing support for “adhering to the basic rights, first and foremost the right of return for Palestinian refugees. Also… for standing up against pressure aimed at resuming the peace talks without achieving the demands of the Palestinians.”
Abbas also vowed not to return to the negotiating table unless Israel completely froze Jewish construction throughout Judea, Samaria, and all areas of Jerusalem claimed by the Palestinian Authority for its hoped-for new country.

US warns Israel on Wikileaks

The United States has warned Israel of potentially embarrassing information being disclosed as a result of a massive document release by Wikileaks. The release is said to be imminent.
The US Embassy in Tel Aviv has informed the Prime Minister's Office that the website WikiLeaks was planning on releasing US diplomatic cables, of which some may deal with Israel-America relations.
The reason the US gave for informing the Israeli government is that they wanted to make sure Israel was prepared for publicity that might cause diplomatic embarrassment, and would not be surprised by the findings.
Other countries warned include Britain, Australia, Canada, Denmark and Norway. The documents were scheduled for release as early as Friday (this post was prepared on Friday before the Sabbath started).

Mohamed Osman Mohamud, 19, attempted to detonate what he believed was an explosives-laden van at an annual Christmas tree lighting ceremony in Portland, Oregon. However, undercover FBI agents had been monitoring his plans and had ensured that the "bomb" was a dud.
Mohamud, a naturalised US citizen of Somali descent, was arrested by the Federal Bureau of Investigation and Portland police around 5:40 pm Friday (0040 GMT Saturday). Detectives swooped on him just after he dialled a cell phone number that he thought would set off the bomb. As they closed in, Mohamud tried to kick at them and yelled "Allahu Akbar!" - Arabic for "God is great!"
"The threat was very real. Our investigation shows that Mohamud was absolutely committed to carrying out an attack on a very grand scale," said Arthur Balizan, a special agent in charge of the FBI in Oregon. "At the same time, I want to reassure the people of this community that, at every turn, we denied him the ability to actually carry out the attack."

Former British Prime Minister Tony Blair and author Christopher Hitchens ahead of their debate on religion set up by Munk Debates in Toronto
Mr Hitchens, 61, said: "Once you assume a creator and a plan, it makes us objects, in a cruel experiment, whereby we are created sick, and commanded to be well.
"And over us, to supervise this, is installed a celestial dictatorship, a kind of divine North Korea."
He said it was not necessary to have "divine permission to know right from wrong".
And he said religion may promise salvation but the price was the "surrender of your critical faculties".
He continued: "Religion forces nice people to do unkind things, and also makes intelligent people say stupid things."
In a question from the audience Mr Blair was asked what role faith played in his decision to invade Iraq.
He said: "I think we can nail this one pretty easily. It was not about religious faith.
"You know, one of the things that I sometimes say to people is, look, the thing about religion and religious faith is if you are a person of faith, it's part of your character, it defines you in many ways as a human being.
"It doesn't do the policy answers, I am afraid.
"Even on the major decisions that are to do with war and peace that I've taken, they were decisions based on policy, and so they should be, and you may disagree with those decisions, but they were taken because I genuinely believed them to be right."
