NO to the Plan for mosque near World Trade Center
It is interesting that for the first 13 out of Muhammad's 23 year "mission", the time he spent in Mecca no mosque was ever built. But after his hijrah to Medina which was the Jewish town of Yathrib until Muhammad arrived and slaughtered 800 Jewish men in the city square and took it over. Not until Muhammad made this conquest did he ever build the first mosque.
The common argument I hear is America is a religiously free country so we must allow everyone to build their own places of worship. But that assumes a mosque is the same thing as a church or synagogue and not a base for conquest and terror operations. Just ask the folks running the Abdel Nasser mosque in Ramallah what they think a mosque is for.
